The Minecraft game world has to be round; otherwise the 1:16 Nether travel distance due to nearness to the core of the planet would be defunct as well as the method in which both the sun and moon rise. Beside, the circular moon and sun are still made of pixels, just as a sphere in Minecraft would be made of cubes.
