What ever the results, open the image in Paint and edit the moon or sun to what your prefer. Or use a texture pack. Jeez!

It still has the blocky appeal in its pixelated texture, just like the textures of eggs, ender pearls, or eyes of ender.
Square moon phases look ridiculous.

Personally, I think that the square sun and moon look better, I don't really like how the round moon looks, though the sun's ok.

Even though I like a round moon. I think the square one is better. New people that play the game are looking at all the square things. They look in the sky and get a kick out of the square sun and moon too.

Hey Mojang, I'm convinced that a realistic looking sunset will entice more people to buy the game. Some people I've introduced the game to are a little taken aback by the square planets.
