    No kidding... It's been neck and neck right from the beginning. Sometimes round is winning, sometimes square is winning. My guess is that Notch will have the final say.

Since the minecraft world has no curvature, the moon and sun have to be square in order for minecraft to be a logically self-consistent universe. If the sun or moon were round in minecraft, then gravitational interactions with a flat surfaced minecraft world would rip the world apart.

    @Fletcher

    You are using 'gravity' as an argument? In Minecraft?

Eh, I use an assortment of texture packs, some of which use square sun/moon, some of which use round sun/moon. Soemof which use a BINARY star, even.

Not worried about what the default is; I'm sure someone, somewhere, will make "Classic" square suns and moons available for those that want them.

Keep it square! So many mods make the moon round anyway, a square moon could be the symbol that you are playing vanilla Mincraft!

Anyway Round is only more square inside :D

The more square they have in it, better they are. Just like Minecraft :D
