To be honest, I think square with rounded corners would be the least appealing. That doesn't keep with either "realism" or blockiness.

Keep them square please, if you want a round sun/moon you can just download a texture pack.

Copy and paste if you agree

Or the other way around. If texture packs are apparently no effort whatsoever, you can use one. Not a good argument.

In other news: Round. But blocky, obviously.

Why the hell would people copy/paste your comment? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Everything i square, so why shouldn't the sun/moon be square too?

If 'round' wins, then every block and mob shall be round and not blocky!

ROUND!
The world IS NOT round. You use square things to build ALL SHAPES. Do you actually go around minecraft building only Square things?? Thats stupid.

While I consider your ideas in general to be a little off the wall but fantastic, I really would like to see the sun and moon stay square. As a fellow game dev I'm sure you understand the importance on internal consistency and changing the sun/moon to pixely circles makes things feel more pixely and less minecrafty.
Now I will say that the round ones do look nice and are well made, I just think that the square ones reenforce the the world image you've worked so hard to make.

A square moon belongs to minecraft like pies to carrots, I admit the round on looks better but in this matter I would choose a 'less good' looking square moon over a round one
