The world itself is in fact round, built out of square pieces. Proof? The world does have a radius when you look into the distance, and the nether also proves this. The 1 block in the nether equals 5 in the upper world was built on the concept that the world is round.

Like I've said, that doesn't bother me, I actually kinda like the round moon, but I still don't think you should jerk the collective chain of your fans like that. For those who supported round: what if this stuff was pulled in reverse? Round won, but Mollstam stepped in and forced it to be square somehow? You'd feel cheated of your opinion, and that's the thing that's going to bother Minecrafters for a while, and I bet the moon/sun issue will be totally eclipsed by it.
