The number of times in this game I've checked the sky to see where the sun is, to calculate how much time I have to seek shelter by night, the number of times I've spent staring at the square moon as it rose and fell waiting for the square sun to burn away the mobs. The celestial bodies, and the danger/safety they represent are cornerstones of the game. If they turn round, so be it, I won't stop playing. But if I wanted reality in my gaming I would be playing a different game. The entire push toward realism (pigs with 3D snouts, chests of slightly smaller size, etc.) is absolutely unnecessary. The retro pixelated look and feel of the game was iconic. Changes which undermine that undermine the immersive otherworld quality of the game. And on top of it all: there are hundreds of mods which add in realism for those who want it. I suppose soon I will be downloading a "classic Minecraft" mod just to retain the magic. I don't care because I don't find the the original textures to be anywhere near good. TEXTURE PACK, HOOOO!!!!!!!!!  Square ! Everything else is!!  See, if Round had won legit, people would have had to just take it. And if Notch hadn't put up this poll, and had just decided on Round from the get-go, people would have complained, but taken it. But asking your fanbase for an opinion, and then telling them that you don't care, and that you don't care what you promise, because you won't live up to it? That's low, man. And this is coming from someone who didn't mind if Round won at all. I mean, common sense just screams that something like that will be bad for PR, and Notch is normally VERY good about pleasing his fanbase. I'm confused. Maybe he's been drinking heavily?
