What about a sphere of cubes... instead of a circle of squares? Can it be much more dense so it looks like a bigger object that's far away?

In both choices, the moon just looks too small and too close for it to look like a moon.

THE MINECRAFT WORLD IS NOT SQUARE!!! Its MADE of squares, but from a distance OF COURSE the moon looks round.

It still has the blocky appeal in its pixelated texture, just like the textures of eggs or ender pearls, or eyes of ender.
Square moon phases look ridiculous.

Ok look i can understand if you guys got mad if this was the first round thing in the game but look there is plenty of rounds things already like slime, and mine cart tracks (if placed 2x2),ect come on its not this bad really...

It doesn't suit minecraft to have a round object in the sky when everything else is square

    Realy cuz i though slime was round and minecart tracks if you place them 2x2 but i could be wrong....

The round moon phases make no sense; the Minecraft world is square, so it should cast a square shadow on the moon regardless of what shape the moon is.
