      Notch counted the "Don't Care" ones as "You Decide" and he wanted round. So when you combine the "Round" votes and the "Don't Care" votes, "Round" wins. Check his twitter.

      No, look at notch's twitter, he counted the "don't care" as whatever he wanted, which was round.

What about a circular moon and sun made up of smaller squares in an 8x8 grid? Would keep both parties happy-ish

Square! I think itd be nice if we left at least one thing unchanged from alpha it can remind us of all the fun times we had during the updates, where one thing was always consistent: when the square sun goes down and the square moon goes up, youre ####ed

Its true that the sun/moon is already square but its the ammout of squares really just keep it square but put them in such fashion that it looks round.
