I know I read that he personally prefers the round ones, but not that that's what he had decided.
Uh.. as far as i know, texture packs can change what the sun looks like. So for anyone that wants to change it, it's possible to do.  Posted by Selinaa in reply to Dariot October 14, 2011 at 2:36 am. Report Abuse But I don't use texture packs; I think it takes away from the original flavor. The new round moon w/ phases looks great, but the square moon w/ phases looks absolutely ridiculous.
I want it to be round. Then I could worship it for being something that doesn't make sense in a square world. Square. Nothing is round in Minecraft. Vote square! Notch had pictures posted of the round sun/moon phases that looked really awesome. They were still pixelated, but looked great. Keep in mind, Notch prefers the round ones too! The square sun and moon are iconic symbols of Minecraft that represent one of it's main features (it is made of cubes). On the other hand, a circular sun and moon could be a big change in Minecraft, emblazened in the history of its development, like the introduction of smooth lighting and/or pistons. Plus it would make the world more realistic and believable. I think that both square and circular suns and moons should be available (with a choice on the options menu perhaps?  ) Posted by m42 in reply to Spark_of_Aqua October 14, 2011 at 2:36 am.
