The moon and sun are still made of blocks. Due to their distance, altought, you see them round. Easy question, easy answer. It is extremely correct for them to be squared, but you see them round for an optic illusion.

Despite the fact that the world is not rounded, the horizon doesn't curve, and it's effectively flat on an infinite plane in all four directions, there's no reason for anything made of blocks to appear curvy. The moon is one giant block in the sky, and that's why it's square. Its face constrains to point straight at the earth at all times, similar to how real-earth's moon does. However, since minecraft doesn't rotate on a tilted axis and the sun and moon are on constant arcs, there can be no phases of the moon, so it's always full. So we're looking at one face of a cube in the night sky. There is no argument that it is a square moon. The only argument should be, if it's mined, will it be made of stone, or delicious cheese?

I say square. But it would be really cool of you coups visit the moon and sun too. The moon being a desert/clay like landscape and the sun lava with little pieces of red ground (e.g. Netherrock). If they are square this could make these places even more interesting. And you can get there by portals or making stairs or something which will only be available ar certain times of the day.

Always has been square, everythin' else is square, it looks in place with everything else as is. Change it to circular and it will not only look different than what people know, but simply be out of place. The squares have become a theme, an identity for minecraft, keep it that way.

If the Sun and Moon become round, will they be actual circles or squares forming a circle-like shape?

Circles or squares, though I like when the moon is a crescent cause it looks pretty

Pixelated circles is surely the obvious answer?????

Iv downloaded pre release 4 and I'm definitely going to say round, i think most people don't know how amazing you've made it look, so stick with round until you release it and people will come around

When I think of minecraft I think of polygons. Almost everything in the game has an edge on it and I think the sun and moon should retain the track record. Besides, if you make those round, people are going to start requesting you make a lot more things more realistic.

REPEATED

"The winner is ROUND! :-D
Naturally, I counted the "do not care" votes as "you decide". Next up, I'm invading a neighboring country."

Minecraft's is a universe made up of square blocks. But square blocks can be assembled in a variety of shapes, including spheres.

The Sun and Moon, even if they were made entirely out of the meter-squared blocks that make up the Minecraft world, would still appear round to the eye of someone far away from them. I don't think that they ought to be entirely smooth, but a pixelated circle would fit nicely and make sense in the context of the game.

It's the freaking moon. It can be all squares and still look circular from very far away.

I remember when I used to play with Dokus pack, and at nights the crescent looked amazing from the porch of my first fortress. Such good times...

...But. I think a square moon is a must for the authentic minecraft experience. Today I use no texture packs.
