If people would a like round moon or sun it's way easy to find a texture for them and change it themselves. The moon phases is a cool idea, I really like it.. Report Abuse If you want a circular moon/sun, get a texture pack! The square moon is an icon. People see that little 8x8 moon and instantly think: Minecraft! A round moon would ruin that. I mean, the moon is obviously self-illuminated (and thus can't be shadowed), since sunlight can't reach it, as the world is an infinite plane. Posted by Dalunatic October 13, 2011 at 11:15 am. Report Abuse It has to be 'made of blocks' either way, because the default texture pack is 16x. Square or round is a question of style.
