Part of the fun in minecraft for me is the fantasy.Read my last post about mobs and you will see what i mean. Still a round sun and moon would confuse mobs, they have never seen a circle after all. Report Abuse y not a pixelated sun so round but with square edges I can't believe that notch would ruin his game by making the moon round... It's just wrong, Minecraft is a block-based game. In Minecraft, any shape that's not square just looks out of place, especially circles. Don't go makin' things round on me,guys! Keep the sun/moon square but make turning them round a special feature. Like a reward for doing some kind of quest or crafting a special object. it's minecraft! suns gotta be square! I would much prefer it to stay square but if you make it round I could just get a texture pack  Tell me, are you guys still making square houses because its made of blocks? How stupid isnt that? I think it should be round yet very pixelated Part of the joy of Minecraft was that first time you saw the moon rise, and the fact it was evidently square. I don't think Minecraft should make any move towards being smooth (apart from the lighting of course! :D). It has a unique appeal by avoiding current triple A conventions to antialias everything to the point pixels vanish altogether. Report Abuse One more thing, minecraft is unique, it isnt supposed to be that real. If minecraft wasa based on real life (although it kinda is) it would suck. Instead of creepers and skeletons coming after you it would probably be bears. And they dont spawn out of nowhere, so then there would be no mobs. #### you all, lets go round and change the blocky tiles into hexagons while we're at it! Report Abuse If you fly up high in creative, the world Does appear to curve because of the default FOV still being slightly fish eyed. Moon phases can work with a square moon. The middle of the moon can run diagonally, a crescent would be a right angle. There'd be no way in heck it could work astronomically, but i thought this wasn't earth to begin with.
